On Wednesday, June 8, 2016, Korean Air opened an aero engine maintenance center in Yeongjong International City. The opening was carried out to strengthen aircraft maintenance capabilities and expand the foundation of the aviation maintenance industry. The engine test facility inside the center, measuring 14 meters by 14 meters, is one of the world’s largest facilities and can inspect engines of up to 150,000 pounds of thrust. Based on this center, Korean Air planned to enhance its competitiveness in aero engine maintenance and advance aviation maintenance services while promoting related industries.
